THE SHIELD MICROSCOPE MARK II

A project by the Educational Supply Association in 1971

In 1971 a radically revised Shield Microscope, constructed in grey plastic with a vertical direction of view was submitted to the American Patent Office Design Registration by the ESA. There doesn’t appear to be a British Patent.

At least one of these is known to exist in the Shield family.

An enclosed vertical body which would stand on the table on its own base, with a horizontal slide, a vertically downwards direction of view and a mirror for illumination was evidently felt to be more ‘normal’.
