HOW I DISCOVERED I WAS DIFFERENT 1959

It's 1959, I am 11. I gained a place at King Edward VI grammar school, Stratford upon Avon, this necessitates a bus journey on a Midland Red 150 from the village in which I lived. I ruminated on how this bus journey would work. Of course, there would be other older pupils on the bus before me, and they were bound to sit in the best seats, so I had to reconcile myself to not being able to sit at the front, which was my favourite position. This was unfortunate, but something I would have to put up with.

The first day at school arrived, and I made my way to the bus stop in some trepidation. The bus arrived, and I climbed the staircase to the upper deck.

To my absolute astonishment everyone was in the back, leaving the front empty for me – no problem. A node in one's time line.
